Should you still be asking but who’s Lara and what’s special about her, this read will help you complete the picture.
Interestingly Lara was born in love with anything with vivid colours. Experimentation with whatever cosmetics were first made available to her followed from an early age, and from that point on, the inner force driving her into the the field just couldn’t rest, until she was able to start her studies in a local beauty Diploma at MCAST Institute for community services. Throughout ongoing research in makeup artistry online, her flourishing abilities landed her an interesting offshore role (literally), and in fact earned her the seamen’s (women) certification. The role of a medical skin care therapist on-board the lush cruise ship, the Queen Victoria, from the Cunard vessels family. This not only led her to a much deeper understanding of the physiological aspect affecting the dermatological side of her work, but also exposed her to a completely new high-calibre audience and professionalism that goes without saying with the Cunard’s line of practice.
Lara decided to take the leap and broaden her studies all the way to LA precisely Hollywood which we all know as the Mecca for the film industry. Studies focused on the sculpting skill-set which is the foundation of SFX and prosthetic makeup artistry as to tailor for all variations in facial and bone structures amongst actors. Fortunately, during her time at the LA Cinema Makeup school, Lara received tuition from the creative director for the movie Avatar, Joseph C. Pepe (responsible also in the movies War of the Worlds and Fantastic Four amongst others).
Determination led her to venture into additional studies at the Internationally renowned Joe Blasco Makeup School Hollywood (now relocated to Orlando). Whilst in Hollywood, Lara started reading for her masters in makeup artistry and advanced prosthetics with foam latex. During her studies, Lara received fieldwork consultations from both Rob Burman and Barnie Burman (known for their work on Star Trek, Terminator, The Ring, Jack the Reaper and Mission Impossible amongst others) which have such an extensive experience in the SFX makeup field.
In 2017, Lara ventured to the southern-most town, in Falmouth England, where she undertook a revamped prosthetics course at the Neill Gorthon’s Prosthetic Studio. This helped her in exploring newer technologies being offered to the makeup artist industries focusing on film production quality.
All this above mentioned dedication, sacrifices and effort, paid off, as below, anyone can notice the growin list of international film productions that required Lara’s artistic skills in their makeup department:
